How to Resize an Image on iPhone for an Upload

A form can reject a perfectly good iPhone photo because its dimensions, file size or format do not match the requirements. Check all three before editing.

Read the requirement first

Resize in your browser

  1. Open the image resizer in Safari and select the photo.
  2. Enter the required width. Keep the ratio locked unless you intentionally want a different shape.
  3. If both dimensions are mandatory, crop to that shape first rather than stretching the photo.
  4. Download the result and select the downloaded copy when returning to the form.

For a file-size limit

Open the compressor, select Target file size, enter the limit and process the photo. Check the actual result size. For a form with a strict decimal byte ceiling, choose a slightly lower KB target; the tool displays KB using 1024 bytes.

The browser may save a download to Files rather than Photos. If the picker still selects the original large photo, choose the new file from the download location. A clear filename helps distinguish the copies.

Choose JPG when the form does not accept HEIC

Some iPhone photos use HEIC. If the form explicitly requests JPG, convert the file before uploading it. Renaming .heic to .jpg does not convert the image. Keep the original when you may need its full detail later.

A repeatable shortcut

Apple’s Shortcuts app can combine actions into a reusable workflow. A resizing workflow needs an input image, a resize action and a save or share action. Check each action’s settings and test on a copy before applying it to several photos. Use the browser workflow above when you prefer direct control over the final byte size.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does taking a screenshot solve the problem?

It changes the source and may discard useful detail. Resize or convert the original when you have it.

Are photos edited entirely on my phone by this website?

Website tools upload the image for server processing. Uploaded image files are removed after processing.
