LinkedIn Profile Banner Safe Zone
On mobile, LinkedIn crops the personal banner and shows a smaller portion. Keep your logo or key text in the upper-center area (roughly 1584 × 200 px top half) to ensure visibility across desktop and mobile.
The Banner Has a Hole in It
The single most common LinkedIn design mistake is centring content on a personal profile banner. The banner is 1584 x 396 pixels, but your profile photo sits on top of it — overlapping the lower-left corner on desktop, and shifting position entirely on mobile.
Anything you place in that lower-left region will be covered. On top of that, the banner is cropped differently across devices: mobile shows a noticeably narrower slice than desktop, so the far left and right edges cannot be relied upon either.
The safe approach is to keep logos, taglines and any text in the upper-right two thirds of the banner, and treat the left third and the outer edges as background texture. Company page banners use different dimensions and do not have the profile photo overlapping in the same way, so they are more forgiving.
LinkedIn Image Sizes
| Placement | Size | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Personal banner | 1584 x 396 | Profile photo overlaps lower left |
| Profile photo | 400 x 400 | Displayed as a circle |
| Company logo | 300 x 300 | Square, shown across the site |
| Company page banner | 1128 x 191 | No photo overlap |
| Shared post image | 1200 x 627 | 1.91:1 link preview ratio |
| Article header | 1280 x 720 | 16:9 for published articles |
Keep Text Large — Feeds Are Read on Phones
Most LinkedIn browsing happens on a phone, where a shared post image is only a few hundred pixels wide. Detailed charts, dense slides and small captions that read perfectly on your monitor become illegible in the feed. If you are sharing data, simplify it to one clear message per image and set the type far larger than feels necessary.
